Hello Ladies
As another bowling season comes to a close, we can reflect on what we hope has been an enjoyable and successful time for you and your Club. The weather has been kind as far as the League is concerned, if not perhaps a little too hot at times!; a nightmare as far as Association competitions go, with a seeming guarantee of torrential rain on most occasions; however we could always be sure of a wonderful warm welcome by the various hosting Clubs in the Association Friendlies. Regardless of these imponderables the Committee have worked tirelessly to ensure that your games continue to give you satisfaction and maintain your enthusiasm in sport.
We are aware of the huge number of distractions and entertainments nowadays available to everybody and, as a forward-looking Association, we are aware that challenges exist for some smaller Clubs who are struggling to put up a regular full League team. That is why we are very excited to be introducing an option which may make this easier. Next season will see the introduction of a Triples League. This will be additional to the regular traditional Rinks that BDWBA have always played and will hopefully offer a solution. Clubs will be able to choose whether to play Rinks or Triples or both - it is entirely up to them to decide. Because of the smaller number of players required to make up the teams this might make it easier for smaller Clubs but could also benefit larger Clubs where players don't always get a game but may well have enough to enter an additional small team. We are optimistic that we are giving you the opportunity to play the game that suits you, and hopefully also offering a chance to ensure the survival of some Clubs as well.
Thank you for your support this year. Have a good winter, and we look forward to an exciting year ahead.
Carrie
